BlackSky to deliver Gen-3 satellites for 50-satellite AI constellation worth $1 billion
BlackSky has been selected as the exclusive supplier of electro-optical satellites for a 50-satellite constellation being developed as part of a $1 billion investment. The consortium led by Marlan Space, Loft Orbital and Mistral AI includes companies from the UAE and France and plans radar, optical and other sensors for users in France, Europe and the UAE. BlackSky receives US contracts for AI-powered target recognition in Gen-3 satellites
BlackSky has won several US research and development contracts to develop AI-based automated target recognition and damage assessment systems to be integrated into the Gen-3 satellite architecture. The systems are designed for real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations; one contract includes classified workflows for object and identity recognition. The Gen-3 constellation will deliver 35-centimeter resolution with onboard AI analytics. BlackSky Technology receives NRO contract modification to accelerate AROS satellites
BlackSky Technology reported a contract modification from the National Reconnaissance Office to accelerate development of its multispectral AROS mapping system, which is expected to be operational in 2028. The adjustment funds a spacecraft and a data collection system for digital mapping, navigation, maritime surveillance and 3D twins, giving it strategic value for U.S. intelligence.
