Coinbase is integrating ION’s XTP for Event Contracts to support Kalshi’s regulated prediction markets, enabling real-time execution, 24/7 automated processing and onboarding of tens of thousands of accounts per day. The platform has already handled high-volume activity, including Kalshi’s first one million trades over Super Bowl weekend, and lets futures commission merchants manage event contracts alongside existing cleared derivatives through a single system with automated settlement and reporting. Coinbase shares climbed about 7% in morning trading to $187.11, driven by optimism around the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Coinbase has begun offering regulated crypto derivatives to eligible Canadian traders through Coinbase Financial Markets, including 23 futures on assets such as Bitcoin, Ether and Solana, five commodity futures (gold, silver, oil) and index futures including COIN50. Contracts include nano-sized products and allow long or short positions with up to 10x leverage; Coinbase warned leveraged trades can exceed initial investment.
