Group 1 Automotive places $1.25 billion of bonds to finance Hennessy acquisition
Group 1 Automotive issued senior unsecured notes totaling $1.25 billion: $625 million at a 6.25% coupon (maturing 2032) and $625 million at a 6.625% coupon (maturing 2035). The private placement is expected to close on September 22, 2026. Net proceeds and existing cash will be used to finance the announced purchase of dealership assets and real estate from Hennessy Automobile Companies; if the deal does not close by January 6, 2027, the 2032 notes must be repurchased.
