Murphy Oil relies on US cash flow to finance international exploration
Murphy Oil is shifting its focus from Malaysia to a mix of US shale (Eagle Ford), offshore production in the Gulf of Mexico and international exploration. Eagle Ford and the Gulf provide strong cash flow and balance-sheet flexibility, while Bubale in the Côte d’Ivoire is seen as a near-term capital focus with an 18–24 month evaluation program. Lac Da Vang in Vietnam is intended to be funded from its own production; deeper offshore developments will only be advanced after a positive evaluation and a possible partner/financing decision. Management emphasizes dividend continuity, disciplined capital spending and options such as buybacks, balance-sheet protection or stake sales to finance larger projects. » More on de.investing.com
