Viasat commissions ViaSat-3 F3 for Asia-Pacific

The satellite ViaSat-3 F3 from Viasat has been commissioned and provides capacity for the Asia-Pacific region with a throughput capacity of over one terabit per second. According to the company, this doubles the bandwidth of the existing satellite fleet; ViaSat-3 F1 has been in service since 2024, and ViaSat-3 F2 is in final in-orbit tests for North and South America. Viasat reports steady revenue quarter, shares under pressure after hours

Viasat reported revenue of $1.2 billion in Q1 2026, free cash flow up 19% to $72 million, and an order backlog nearly 19% higher at $4.2 billion. Adjusted EBITDA fell 7% to $381 million and the net loss narrowed to $52 million. Viasat integrates satellite-based voice communication into BMW iX3 for first time

Viasat, in collaboration with the BMW Group, demonstrated a technology demo in which satellite voice calls were fully integrated into the infotainment system of a BMW iX3 for the first time. The solution uses Viasat’s L‑Band satellite network and transmits voice using the NB‑IoT standard, supported by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Auto 5G Modem‑RF Gen 2 and the NESC‑KI codec from Fraunhofer IIS.
