An Airbus A330 of Discover Airlines is having Aeroshark film installed in Dresden for the first time. The film mimics the microstructure of shark skin and is intended to reduce aerodynamic drag. Lufthansa Technik and Surfactis expect 1–1.2% fuel savings on the fuselage and engine nacelles, and potentially up to about 2% if extended to wings and the tailplane. The technology has already been tested on Boeing 777s and, according to Lufthansa Technik, has accumulated over 350,000 flight hours, saved more than 20,600 tonnes of kerosene and over 65,000 tonnes of CO2; measurement flights are now being conducted for certification and performance confirmation. » Más en kurier.at

Airbus, Thales and Leonardo plan to combine their satellite divisions in the project "Bromo"; the venture would employ 25,000 people and generate combined annual sales of €6.5 billion. Airbus is to hold 35% of the shares, Leonardo and Thales 32.5% each; a legally binding framework agreement is expected by year-end and notification to the EU Commission will follow.
