Daimler Truck plans to invest a mid three-digit million euro sum in hydrogen trucks by the end of the decade and sees the technology as a central component of decarbonising truck logistics. CEO Karin Rådström emphasizes a dual strategy with battery-electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, citing higher payload, longer range and faster refuelling as advantages. An analysis by Transport & Environment warns that Daimler Truck and other European manufacturers could lose up to a quarter of the European e-truck market to Chinese and US competitors by 2030. T&E sees a total-cost-of-ownership advantage of up to 12 percent for Chinese models and real price gaps of up to about €95,000 per vehicle, supported by lower battery cell prices. Daimler Truck Defence, together with Mercedes‑Benz Powertrain, will export engine components to Poland and support local companies with assembly and service. A letter of intent with the Polish defence technology group Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa was signed at the MSPO in Kielce.
