Douglas appoints Jean-Marc Bellaiche as CEO and faces pressure from online competitors
Jean-Marc Bellaiche will take over leadership of Douglas on November 1, 2026, after Sander van der Laan leaves management early. The company is reviewing its store structure and must adapt its digital strategies and cost base to remain competitive. » Plus sur wiwo.de
Douglas brings in Jean‑Marc Bellaiche as new CEO — battles growing online competition
Jean‑Marc Bellaiche will take over leadership of Douglas on 1 November 2026. The company, Europe’s market leader in cosmetics retail, is under pressure from falling sales and two downward revisions to its guidance. While the overall market is growing, Douglas is losing market share to price- and digitally oriented competitors such as Notino and Flaconi, as well as to Amazon and TikTok Shop, which are gaining strongly in the beauty segment. High store costs, consultation theft and changed consumer behaviour are weighing on profitability; the stock has lost around 71 percent of its value since the IPO comeback in 2024. » Plus sur wiwo.de
