MDA Space wins $474 million contract from Telesat for 27 AURORA satellites

MDA Space received a follow‑on order from Telesat LEO ULC worth $474 million to build 27 additional AURORA broadband satellites, increasing the total Lightspeed program order from 198 to 225 units. The majority of the contract value is expected to be recorded in backlog in the third quarter of 2026. The contract includes the integration of a military Ka‑band spectrum (500 MHz) into the satellites under construction, and MDA was named prime contractor for a separate secure UHF/X‑band constellation.
