Associated British Foods shares fall after disappointing Primark numbers in Europe

Associated British Foods reported in its trading update for the quarter to 12 September a like‑for‑like sales decline at Primark of 3%, driven by a 4.3% fall in continental Europe despite a slight 0.4% rise in the UK and Ireland. The stock fell about 8.2% to 1,854 pence after analysts criticised the figures and the cautious outlook. Primark cuts prices by up to 29% ahead of demerger from Associated British Foods

Primark has cut prices on hundreds of top-selling items in women’s, men’s and children’s fashion by up to 29% across all 19 markets to boost sales ahead of the planned demerger from parent company Associated British Foods.
