GlobalFoundries has released process design kits for its new UX platform family. The 40UX and 22UX technologies target energy-efficient microcontrollers, wireless connectivity, sensor interfaces, image processing and edge AI. Volume production for 40UX is planned in Singapore by 2027 (later also in Malta), while 22UX will be manufactured in Dresden. GlobalFoundries is replacing its change-data-capture infrastructure with Redpanda to stream equipment, process and scientific manufacturing data in real time and to connect core systems. Tier-0 systems are already in production, and the platform is being rolled out at global sites. GlobalFoundries beat revenue and earnings forecasts for the second quarter (revenue $1.79bn, adjusted EPS $0.46) as well as non‑IFRS gross profit, yet the stock fell about 5.1% premarket. Investors are mainly worried about the feasibility of the margin targets (management targets ~30% gross margin by end‑2026 and 40% by end‑2028), customer concentration and a weak smartphone market, leaving the outlook in focus.
