Macquarie views fiscal year 2027 as a transition year for Air New Zealand and kept the rating at "Underperform." The airline confirmed its FY2026 guidance of a NZ$340–390m loss; capacity growth was sharply revised down (first half of FY2027 only +0.9%). Air New Zealand will offer six stacked lie-flat berths called Skynest in a Boeing 787-9 on selected long-haul routes from November; four-hour sleep sessions will be bookable from 18 May 2026. The berths feature full-length mattresses, bedding, curtains, lighting, ventilation and charging ports; eating, crumbs and sharing are prohibited. The system was tested over years with more than 200 trial participants and will initially be used on the Auckland–New York route.
