Dassault to press ahead with next-generation fighter after France and Germany cancel joint project

France and Germany abandoned their future combat air system, prompting Dassault to say it will develop a next-generation combat jet either alone or with partners and seek a demonstrator by 2031. Safran ended its joint engine effort with Germany’s MTU, increasing risk of fragmentation while Germany considers joining the UK-Italy-Japan GCAP/Tempest programme as a secondary customer. Dassault Aviation lifts defense stocks after strong half-year results

Dassault Aviation reported an adjusted revenue increase of 46% to €4.2 billion in the first half of 2026, after which the stock temporarily gained around 10%. Thales and Indra also benefited from strong figures; Thales increased revenue in the first half by just under 8% and recorded a 22% rise in order intake. Dassault Aviation reports strong first half with significantly higher operating profit

Dassault Aviation increased adjusted operating profit in the first half by 83% to €330m on net sales of €4.16bn (+46%). New orders amounted to €2.88bn, well below last year’s €8.08bn, while deliveries included 13 Falcon business jets and 12 Rafale fighter jets.
