NexGen reports that new drilling increased the vertical extent of the high-grade subzone at Patterson Corridor East by 94 m to 644 m and intersected uranium mineralization at a depth of 930 m. Drill holes RK-26-290c1 and RK-26-294 showed multiple overlapping uranium veins, with RK-26-290c1 cumulatively returning 19.5 m above >10,000 CPS and containing a 12.9 m interval that included a 5.2 m core over 61,000 CPS. The company calls RK-26-290c1 its best hole to date at Patterson Corridor East, extends strike in places by up to 50 m, and has deployed a fifth drill rig after completing 20,138.7 m of a planned 42,000 m. According to Reuters, mining giant BHP is considering a stake in NexGen Energy after the groundbreaking for the Rook I uranium project in Saskatchewan on August 20, 2026. BHP began a technical review in 2024 and, under new CEO Brandon Craig, is now signaling increased interest in uranium. NexGen Energy confirms regular exchanges with BHP about its Rook‑I project in Saskatchewan, while the company has begun construction and is targeting production by 2030. NexGen aims to raise around USD 1 billion for mine construction and is considering pre‑purchase (offtake) agreements, debt financing and direct project equity investments. BHP has acquired land nearby and is exchanging technical information with NexGen, but no formal participation has been agreed to date.
