Bob Chapek says he warned Disney board weekly about Bob Iger during power struggle

Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek says he repeatedly raised concerns with the company's board about then-Executive Chairman Bob Iger, reporting weekly complaints that Iger was undermining him through repeated negative briefings. Chapek recounts the dispute in his memoir and a CNBC interview, saying board members dismissed his worries as typical Iger behavior and predicted Iger would leave in two years. Disney's first Avatar generated higher box-office profit than its second and third films combined

New Zealand Film Commission data show the original 2009 Avatar yielded an estimated $1.25 billion profit from $2.92 billion gross after $207.33 million net New Zealand spending. The sequels Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ash together produced about $1.22 billion profit from $3.82 billion gross following $691.79 million net spending, reflecting substantially higher production costs. Director James Cameron is seeking technologies to cut time and cost for future Avatar installments to reduce financial risk.
