Draganfly has won a five-year contract with the Government of Canada to supply low-cost tactical unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The initial order covers 100 systems including ground control stations, payloads, spare parts and initial training; prices for the first systems were not disclosed. Canada holds options to purchase up to 4,900 additional systems, the full exercise of which would have an additional value of about C$24.25 million. The U.S. regulator FAA has granted Draganfly an exemption under Section 44807 for the "Heavy Lift" drone platform, allowing operations above the standard 55-pound limit. The approval is based on evidence of airworthiness, redundant avionics, fail-safe designs and safety protocols, and enables commercial operations across the United States.
