Gladstone Capital reports strong Q2 2026 results and stock rises premarket
Gladstone Capital reported robust financial results for the second quarter of 2026: net investment income rose to $11.8 million ($0.52 per share) and covered 116% of cash distributions. Net asset value per share climbed to $21.36 with net assets of $925 million, and portfolio quality improved with declining nonperforming positions. The stock rose premarket to $19.50 and continues to trade at roughly a 10% discount to NAV, which management and analysts see as indicating upside potential. Gladstone Capital emphasizes disciplined capital deployment, a conservative leverage profile and strong lending capacity as the foundation for further growth in the lower middle market. » More on de.investing.com
Gladstone Capital faces yield pressure but NII still covers reduced distribution
Gladstone Capital cut its monthly distribution to $0.15 as yield compression from 2025 Fed cuts cut portfolio yields from 13.9% to 12.2%, weighing on revenue and sending the stock down about 36% year-over-year. The Fed's hold at 3.75% halts further yield decline but won't reverse past compression; the company is relying on loan-book growth (principal up to $772.3M) to sustain net investment income. Quarterly NII of $0.50 per share currently covers the $0.45 quarterly common distribution, but worsening credit metrics, slowing deal flow or two quarters of NII below $0.45 would likely trigger another cut. » More on finance.yahoo.com
