Atradius: payment delays and bad debts burden German companies
The Atradius Payment Practices Barometer shows that 87 percent of German companies surveyed report payment delays in B2B business and 10 percent record bad debts of five percent or more of their invoice volume. Rising insolvencies and more expensive bank loans are increasing liquidity pressure and straining supply chains, prompting many suppliers to limit payment terms to a maximum of 30 days. Companies expect continued high payment risks for 2026/2027 and, according to Atradius, should actively secure liquidity, manage credit limits and insure receivables. » More on finanzen.net
Atradius: construction industry struggles with insolvencies, subsidy funds barely reaching sector
Atradius reports increased insolvencies in the construction trade (3,174 insolvencies Jan–Oct 2025, +9.3%) and criticizes that the billion-euro special fund has so far had little effect in the industry. Brake factors include complex approval processes, rising material prices and a persistent shortage of skilled workers; housing construction remains particularly problematic, with only about 220,000 homes completed instead of 400,000. Oxford Economics expects a slight recovery in 2026 (construction output +1.4%, housing +1.1%, non-residential construction +2.4%, civil engineering +1.2%), but capacity bottlenecks could delay the execution of additional orders. » More on finanzen.net
Atradius warns of wave of bankruptcies: up to 30,000 insolvencies and €65 billion in potential claim defaults
Atradius projects up to 30,000 corporate insolvencies in 2026 and up to €65 billion in claim defaults. The sectors most affected would be automotive suppliers, the steel/metal industry and construction. Atradius cites ongoing structural problems and a "polycrisis" of high commodity and energy prices, weak domestic demand, higher interest rates and supply bottlenecks as causes. Improved insolvency procedures, digitization, StaRUG and early risk detection through credit insurance can, in Atradius’s view, facilitate restructurings and limit risks. » More on finanzen.net
