At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, Lumen outlined an accelerated realignment toward digital network solutions, aiming to transform its fiber network into a platform for cloud access, automation and AI traffic. Strategic revenues recently rose about 14% and now account for more than half of total revenue; Network-as-a-Service is growing roughly 200% annually. The company reiterated its 2026 EBITDA guidance of $3.1–3.3 billion but expects core business revenue to decline by 3–4%. At the Citi Global TMT Conference, CEO Kate Johnson said Lumen is moving away from selling static circuits toward a programmable enterprise platform for AI that offers real‑time data movement, orchestration and security. Management says free cash flow has been stabilized, targets EBITDA growth for 2026 and expects positive revenue growth in the business segment by 2028; strategic revenues account for 53% of total revenue and recently grew 14% year over year. Lumen plans to expand its fiber network from 12 to 58 million fiber miles by 2031, but will avoid further dependence on Project Coastal Fiber contracts. Lumen is expanding its multi-cloud gateway so that more than 10 million U.S. business locations outside its own fiber network can access the same cloud network environment. Via the Lumen-Connect-Portal and APIs, customers can apply routing policies, segmentation and digital management across locations, even when sites are connected via third parties.
