Andean Silver accelerates restart of Cerro Bayo due to sharply higher silver price
Andean Silver presented an accelerated timetable at the Resources Rising Stars conference to restart the brownfield Cerro Bayo mine in Chile, targeting start-up in 2028. The project has existing infrastructure and permits; an updated resource of 136 million ounces silver equivalent (55 million ounces silver, 1 million ounces gold) was reported. Six drill rigs are operating at about 4,000 m/month, with infill drilling intended to convert over 70% of the resources into the indicated category; a scoping study is planned for early 2027 and feasibility studies through 2027. Management emphasizes funding for mill pre-work, a strong correlation of the share price with the silver price (from under $40 a year ago to nearly $70), and further exploration potential in the district. » More on de.investing.com
