The US government is investing under the CHIPS and Science Act and has secured a non-controlling minority stake in D-Wave Quantum. D-Wave will use the funds to advance development of an annealing machine with up to 100,000 qubits and a gate-model system with 10,000 qubits, aiming to strengthen domestic manufacturing and supply chains. D-Wave Quantum announced that Chief Financial Officer John Markovich will resign effective September 2, 2026; the stock fell 1.2% in after-hours trading. Greg Golkov, senior vice president of finance, will serve as interim CFO and head of finance and accounting.
