Eon seeks relaxation of camera rules and expanded drone protection for the power grid
Eon CEO Leonhard Birnbaum warns of increasing physical attacks on the power grid and says full prevention is unrealistic; faster restoration of supply is more important. Eon calls for relaxed data-protection rules to allow more external surveillance of facilities, including facial recognition to match suspicious people. For remote areas Birnbaum proposes a legally secure “Beleihung” so that contracted third parties can also perform drone detection and countermeasures, while air defense remains a state responsibility. Eon also demands removing strategically useful grid information from the internet, as publicly available data can facilitate attacks. » More on manager-magazin.de
E.ON rises after UBS upgrade – valuation model sees downside potential
UBS upgrades E.ON from “hold” to “buy” and raises its price target to €20.00; the consensus of 16 analysts averages €20.73 (about 17% potential). UBS points to a planned investment program to 2030 of around €48 billion, about €40 billion of which is for regulated power grids. The InvestingPro fair-value model, however, values the stock at only €15.30, signaling significant downside risk. Risks remain from missed Q2 results, a reduced earnings forecast and the ongoing CMA review of the Ovo takeover; Q3 figures are expected on Nov. 11. » More on de.investing.com
UBS upgrades E.ON to buy and sees grid expansion as growth driver
UBS raises its rating for E.ON from Neutral to Buy and increases the 12‑month price target from €19.50 to €20.00, saying the stock has recently underperformed and now offers an entry point. The bank expects electricity distribution networks to make up around 93% of the regulated asset base in Germany by 2030 and that the allowed pre‑tax return for electricity networks will be 115–160 basis points above the proposed gas return. UBS forecasts average annual growth of about 7% in adjusted EBITDA and EPS (2025–2030) and sees room for an additional €5–10 billion of investments, with possible annual network investments of up to €7.3 billion through 2029; key regulatory milestones are the WACC determination for gas at the end of 2026 and the draft for electricity distribution in Q3 2027. » More on de.investing.com
