  • Snap launches Plans to turn group chats into in‑app events

Snap is rolling out Plans, a suite of features that lets users create events, invite up to 200 friends, track RSVPs, send reminders and display dynamic Bitmoji responses. Invites are shared via one-to-one chat and a new "My Plans" tab shows upcoming and past events. The feature aims to boost user engagement and retention in key markets as Snap seeks to keep people using the app. » More on theverge.com

  • Snapchat still unprofitable after 15 years despite 971 million MAUs

Snapchat reported 19% year-over-year revenue growth in Q2 but posted a net loss of $164 million, leaving it unprofitable after 15 years. Management expects adjusted EBITDA of $300–350 million in Q3 and anticipates positive net income in 2027, though a multi-year dilution program could offset benefits. Daily active users are declining in North America and Europe and international ARPU remains far below U.S. levels, raising concerns about sustainable profitability. » More on finance.yahoo.com

  • Snap shares fall after rally: profit-taking, legal risks and insider sales weigh on price

Snap’s stock dropped about 7.1% to $5.50 in morning trading after a rally of nearly 26% since late July faded and investors took profits. Q2 results beat expectations with roughly $1.6bn in revenue (+19%), a narrower loss per share and 493 million daily active users, but the core digital advertising business grew only modestly while subscriptions accounted for the bulk of growth. Additional selling pressure came from a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision that narrows Section 230 immunity and could enable thousands of lawsuits, as well as recent insider sales by executives. Analysts remain mostly cautious (majority price targets $5–$7) and see the stock back near the middle of its 52-week range of $3.81 to $9.28. » More on de.investing.com
