SoftBank donated $50 million to Trump library months before federal land lease for Ohio data center
SoftBank disclosed it contributed $50 million to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation in January, two months before the administration announced a federal land lease for SB Energyâs planned AI data center in Portsmouth, Ohio. Lawmakers raised bribery concerns and noted the donation occurred while Trump was still in office and the library fund had previously been dissolved by Florida for failure to file reports. SoftBank Corp posts strong quarterly results and raises AI/cloud growth forecast
SoftBank Corp reported Q1 fiscal 2026 revenue of 1,814.7 billion yen (+9.4%), operating income of 302.3 billion yen (+4.0%) and net income attributable to shareholders of 150.1 billion yen (+3.3%), beating the analyst consensus by about 11%. Management raised the average annual growth forecast for cloud and AI revenues through FY2027 to 30% (previously 15%). The corporate segment made a strong contribution (+27% operating profit), cloud and AI revenues grew by more than 30%; the company also announced an alliance with Seven & i and the acquisition of SP.LINKS. For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, SoftBank Corp. reported an operating profit increase of 27.5% and record adjusted EBITDA across all segments. Management raised its revenue growth forecast for Cloud and AI to a 30% CAGR for 2026â2027 (previously 15%) and is targeting an operating margin of around 30% in the business.
