South32 schedules shareholder vote on sale of aluminium assets to Alcoa
South32 has scheduled a hybrid general meeting for 15 October 2026 at which shareholders will vote on the proposed sale of its aluminium value chain to Alcoa. Mozal Aluminium is excluded from the transaction. The notice includes an explanatory memorandum and a report from Grant Samuel & Associates; South32 is also making available the registration statement (Form S‑4) filed by Alcoa with the SEC. South32 boosts 2026 earnings significantly – base metals drive growth
South32 reports adjusted EBITDA of USD 2.5bn for fiscal 2026 (+28%) and adjusted earnings of USD 1bn (+55%). The base metals business made the strongest contribution to earnings and cash flow; the balance sheet shows a net cash position of USD 283m. The company will pay a fully franked dividend of 5.4 US cents per share and invested USD 700m in the Hermosa project. South32 increases Sierra Gorda ore reserves by 61% to 1.1 billion tonnes
South32 reports an updated ore reserve estimate for the Sierra Gorda mine of 1,100 million tonnes, an increase of 61%; the average grade is 0.39% total copper (0.46% Cu-equivalent). The mineral resource is stated at 1,870 million tonnes. The reserve extension extends the mine life by around five years to 2045.
