Sun Life Financial focuses on Asia and asset management and aims for a more balanced revenue mix
Sun Life Financial plans to accelerate growth in Asia and asset management and to achieve a mid-term 50/50 split between insurance and asset management. Return on equity was 19.1% and is approaching the target of over 20%; the company is targeting 10% annual earnings growth and a dividend payout ratio of 40–50%. Sun Life is building an alternatives platform with around USD 200 billion AUM, defending its US stop-loss business after a weak quarter, and shifting the US dental business more into the commercial segment. Despite the numbers, the stock fell 2.31% to USD 112.92, weighed down by pressure in the US dental business and outflows at MFS.
