Federal Administrative Court overturns Weko sanction against Swisscom in fiber dispute
The Federal Administrative Court has annulled the roughly CHF 18.4 million sanction imposed on Swisscom by the Competition Commission (Weko). The court found that Swisscom did not hold a dominant market position in the affected areas and that Weko’s market delineation did not apply to the new P2MP technology. The lockout affecting numerous connections temporarily resulted in around half a million blocked links; many have since been rebuilt, but 170,000 remained blocked at the end of H1. The ruling is not yet final and can be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court. » More on finanzen.net
Swisscom fends off around 148 million unwanted calls in 2026
Swisscom reports that Swiss telecom providers have already blocked, flagged or anonymized more than 148 million unwanted calls in 2026. Swisscom recorded 102 million suspected spoofing or spam cases, of which 65 million calls were blocked and 30 million anonymized; seven million calls triggered a warning message. Sunrise handled over 46 million problematic calls from January to August, and Salt blocks on average around 40% of incoming calls. Providers warn that spoofers change numbers quickly and the problem tends to increase toward the end of the year as contracts expire. » More on finanzen.net
Salt and Sunrise consider sharing mobile antennas to strengthen position against Swisscom
Salt and Sunrise have announced a deepened network alliance to share antennas in rural and less densely populated areas and to examine a possible Multi-Operator Core Network Sharing (MOCN). Both operators will retain their own core networks, licenses, frequency control and commercial independence. The project is intended to improve network coverage and quality for customers, reduce costs of 5G rollout in peripheral regions, and still requires regulatory approval from the Eidgenössische Kommunikationskommission. » More on golem.de
