Algonquin to sell 64% stake in Chilean water utility Suralis for $126.5 million
Algonquin agreed to sell its ~64% interest in Chilean water utility Suralis to a Toesca-managed fund for $126.5 million plus an earnout up to $1.5 million, with closing expected within two quarters subject to merger-control approval. Proceeds will be used for debt reduction and capital recycling into Algonquin's $3.2 billion regulated capital plan for 2026–2028, but the base proceeds equal only about 4% of that plan. Management says the sale simplifies the portfolio and focuses capital on core regulated utilities, though the transaction is financially incremental and execution and approval risks remain. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Algonquin Power sells around 64% of Suralis to Toesca for $126.5m
Algonquin Power has agreed to sell its roughly 64% stake in Chilean water utility Suralis to a Toesca fund for $126.5m plus a possible earn-out of up to $1.5m. Toesca, which already holds about 30%, will thereby gain full control of Suralis, which supplies customers in Los Lagos and Los Rios. Algonquin plans to use the proceeds to pay down debt and to help fund its $3.2bn capital plan for 2026–2028. The transaction is expected to close within the next two quarters and is subject to merger-control approval and other customary conditions. » More on de.investing.com
Algonquin Power plans US redomicile amid regulatory wins as earnings decline
Algonquin Power announced plans to redomicile to Delaware with a new headquarters in Chicago, citing that over 80% of operations are in the US and aiming to reduce cross-border tax inefficiencies and access US indexes. The company reported regulatory approvals and rate-case filings that should boost future revenues, including Missouri and Kansas adjustments and a 250 MW gas project certificate. However, GAAP and adjusted earnings fell year‑over‑year, hurt by nonrecurring items, a $17.2 million California write-down, higher interest and operating costs, and rate reductions in California. Management expects the redomicile and pipeline of rate cases to support 2026–2027 forecasts, but investors are waiting for these positives to translate into EPS growth. » More on finance.yahoo.com
