  • ING sticks to free current account in Germany despite new account models

ING chief Steven van Rijswijk announced that ING Deutschland will continue to offer a free current account. The ING Group is introducing a unified current-account structure with four models across all markets, with rollout planned for mid‑2027. Under the current terms, the account remains free with a minimum inflow of €1,000 or for customers under 28; otherwise a monthly fee of €4.90 applies. » More on t-online.de

  • ING confirms free current account in Germany and plans subscription models and acquisitions

ING will stick to offering a free current account in Germany, even after the group introduces four paid subscription plans across the bank. The packages with additional services are already launched in several countries and are expected to start in Germany around mid-2027, while the basic conditions for free account maintenance will remain in place. CEO Steven van Rijswijk also announced that ING will broaden its scope and be open to targeted acquisitions, for example in the area of investment platforms or distribution channels. » More on handelsblatt.com

  • ING study: only 49 percent of 18–30-year-olds expect a state pension

A representative Forsa survey commissioned by ING and Visa shows young adults’ trust in the statutory pension continues to decline (from 56 to 49 percent). 79 percent worry about old-age poverty, while more than half already save privately for retirement. Anonymized ING customer data show 47 percent of young brokerage customers regularly invest via securities savings plans (on average about €365/month), and 90 percent of contributions go into ETFs. 65 percent of 18- to 30-year-olds find the planned retirement savings account attractive, but knowledge gaps remain, especially among women. » More on t-online.de
