Old Dominion Freight Line reports higher revenue per day in August
Old Dominion Freight Line said revenue per day in August rose 12.4% year over year, driven mainly by higher LTL revenue per hundredweight. For the quarter to date, LTL revenue per hundredweight increased 11.3% year over year and rose 4.8% excluding fuel surcharges. CEO Marty Freeman said demand was "relatively consistent" through July and August and the service centre network has capacity to handle additional volumes. Weitz Investment sells Old Dominion Freight Line stake after stock exceeded value estimate
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Weitz Investment Large Cap Equity Fund said it sold its profitable position in Old Dominion Freight Line (ODFL) once the share price rose above the fund's estimate of business value. The firm cited respect for ODFL's management and operational progress but believes current prices already reflect strong volume recovery, pricing and operating-ratio improvements.
