S&P Global raises outlook for Ovintiv after substantial debt reduction
S&P Global Ratings has raised its outlook for Ovintiv from "stable" to "positive" and affirmed the issuer rating at BBB-, citing significant debt reduction and higher cash flows. Ovintiv cut net debt in the first half of 2026 by about $2.2 billion to just under $3 billion and used proceeds from the sale of Anadarko assets ($3 billion) to repay debt, including the full redemption of $700 million of senior notes. S&P expects free cash flow from operations of about $3.6 billion in 2026, an FFO-to-debt ratio of roughly 150% for 2026–2028, and says a rating upgrade within 24 months is possible if Ovintiv keeps net debt below $4 billion and generates positive discretionary cash flow. » More on de.investing.com
