Bertelsmann to become largest shareholder of Brazil's biggest education provider through merger of Afya and Yduqs

Bertelsmann plans to merge its medical-focused university group Afya with provider Yduqs and will acquire 47 percent of the merged, publicly listed company through a share swap. The combination creates a group with around 900,000 students and revenues of about €1.6 billion; on a pro forma basis EBITDA for the year is cited at roughly €600 million (margin >37%). The deal involves no cash payment, is still subject to antitrust review and is expected to be completed within a year. Afya reports stable revenue growth in Q2 2026, margins fall due to investments
