Level largely gutted as Assa Abloy folds business into Kwikset
Assa Abloy has laid off the majority of Level Home staff, folded Level’s assets into Kwikset, and seen Level CEO John Martin and CTO Ken Goto depart. A small team will be retained to finish a forthcoming multi‑family product, while Assa Abloy says it will continue to develop, sell and support Level locks. The restructuring raises questions about cloud‑dependent features for hundreds of thousands of users and follows declining North America residential sales for Assa Abloy. » More on theverge.com
Assa Abloy raises margins in Q1 2026 despite strong currency headwinds
Assa Abloy reported a 6% decline in sales for Q1 2026 to 35,751 million SEK, with 2% organic growth and 2% from acquisitions more than offset by a negative currency effect of 10%. The EBIT margin improved by 40 basis points to 15.3% and the EBITA margin by 50 basis points to 16.4%, alongside a 30% higher operating cash flow (3,141 million SEK). The company completed three acquisitions, reduced net debt to 65.1 billion SEK, and confirms an active acquisition pipeline as well as increased investment in digital, electromechanical products. For 2026 management still sees negative currency impact (around 3% for the year) as the main risk but remains confident about margins and cash generation. » More on de.investing.com
