FreightCar America gains market share and strengthens aftermarket and components business
FreightCar America used the Midwest IDEAS Conference to show that, despite a weak railcar market, it has gained market share, improved efficiency and expanded its aftermarket/components business. Over the past five years revenue rose 25%, adjusted EBITDA improved by more than 1,000 basis points, free cash flow was $89m and market capitalization is just under $320m. In Q2 the share of orders reached 47% (not expected to be sustained); for 2026 about 3,700 railcars produced, revenue of $430–440m and adjusted EBITDA of roughly $40m are expected. The company cites manufacturing flexibility in Castaños, shorter lead times and aftermarket acquisitions as reasons for its resilience and sees a market recovery in 2027/2028. » More on de.investing.com

FreightCar America wins multi‑year 1,900‑car order as Q2 bookings reach ~3,000 cars worth $300 million
FreightCar America said on July 6 it secured a multi‑year order for 1,900 railcars with deliveries through 2028. The company reported second‑quarter orders of about 3,000 railcars, roughly $300 million, with demand across all core market segments. Management says the orders improve backlog visibility and reflect customer repeat activity, providing a clearer operating outlook for the railcar maker, which remains smaller and more cyclical than Class I railroads. » More on finance.yahoo.com
