Shareholders of International Money Express voted at a virtual extraordinary general meeting to approve the merger agreement with Western Union that was signed in August. The approval passed with 21,231,094 votes in favor; IMXI is to become a 100% subsidiary of Western Union through the merger with Ivey Merger Sub. The closing of the transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals, the consent of other shareholders (including Intermex) and other customary conditions; completion is expected by mid-2026. Western Union has agreed to acquire International Money Express (Intermex) for about $500m ($16 per share), a deal expected to be immediately accretive and deliver over $30m of annual cost synergies while adding Intermex’s six million customers.
