  • LG Display develops maskless FLiPP process for large-area OLEDs

LG Display plans to pattern large OLED panels not with metal masks but using a photolithographic FLiPP process. The method is said to enable more precise pixels, up to 60% higher brightness, longer lifetime and about 13% lower power consumption (values not achieved simultaneously). FLiPP eliminates mask sagging, allows coating Gen‑8 substrates in a single step and, according to LG, improves glass-substrate utilization by up to 64%, reducing production time and costs. The technology is to be presented in mid‑August 2026 at IMID in Busan. » More on heise.de

  • LG Display unveils FLiPP OLED process promising brighter, longer‑lasting panels

LG Display introduced FLiPP (FMM‑Less innovative Pixel Patterning), a new OLED manufacturing method that replaces fine metal masks with photolithography to pattern RGB pixels. The company says FLiPP yields panels that are about 1.6× brighter, 2.4× longer‑lasting and 13% more energy efficient, and is not limited by panel size or resolution. LG plans initial use in IT products like tablets and monitors, later expanding to large TVs and wearables; production timing and product availability were not disclosed. » More on theverge.com
