    WHSmith said it overstated its headline annual trading profit forecast in North America due to accelerated recognition of supplier income, cutting its North America projection from £55m to about £25m and lowering group headline profit before tax guidance to around £110m. The board has asked Deloitte to run an independent review after the error prompted a 34% collapse in the share price and left stock at levels not seen since early 2013.
