Medifast beats Q2 expectations and stock rises sharply after-hours
Medifast reported a narrower Q2 loss of $0.28 per share and revenue of $76.4 million, both slightly better than analysts had expected. Despite a 27.6% decline in revenue and a steep drop in active coaches, productivity per coach rose significantly. The launch of the Trilivy brand and cost-cutting measures are intended to support a repositioning toward metabolic health and put the company on track to return to profitability in Q4 2026. The stock gained about 14% after-hours while Medifast left its full-year guidance unchanged. » More on de.investing.com
Medifast replaces OPTAVIA with Trilivy and shifts focus to metabolic health
Medifast is introducing the Trilivy system to replace the OPTAVIA brand and is offering reformulated meal-replacement products called Trilivy Reset Fueling that use MetaVantage technology. The rebranding signals a strategic shift from pure weight loss toward addressing metabolic health with a three-phase program (Reset, Refine, Renew) and a network of independent coaches. The company notes a 36% decline in revenue but a 70% gross profit margin; the new products are slated to launch in August and are intended to positively impact visceral fat as well as insulin and fat metabolism. » More on de.investing.com
Medifast appoints Nicholas Johnson as CEO effective June 1
Medifast’s board has appointed Nicholas Johnson as chief executive officer effective June 1, 2026; Dan Chard remains chairman of the board. The appointment follows a succession plan announced in January; Johnson most recently served as president and has held various leadership roles since 2018. Medifast faces strong headwinds: revenue fell 36% over the past twelve months to $346.1 million and the company posted a loss of $1.82 per share, with analysts not expecting a return to profitability this year. Despite the troubles, gross profit margin remains high at 70%, the stock is up 17.9% year-to-date and trades around $13.08 with a market capitalization of about $132.6 million. » More on de.investing.com
