Advanced Nuclear Fuels receives approval to produce Russian VVER fuel assemblies in Lingen
Lower Saxony's environmental ministry has granted Advanced Nuclear Fuels, a subsidiary of Framatome, the nuclear regulatory approval to manufacture hexagonal VVER-type fuel assemblies in Lingen based on a Rosatom license. Minister Christian Meyer reluctantly issued the approval, stressing strict conditions and the limited legal options to refuse on safety grounds; legal action against the decision has been announced.
