The9 reports strong Q2 2026 profit and prepares monetization of The9bit

The9 posted a net profit of $32 million in Q2 2026 (+39% versus Q1) and a half-year profit of $55 million, its best H1 result since the IPO. The profit increase was driven largely by fair-value revaluations of its 9BIT tokens, while the AI-native platform The9bit counts over 8 million registered users and 110,000 created games. Management plans to roll out in-game purchases and a payment infrastructure for fiat and crypto, expecting stronger revenue growth in H2. Leadership change at The9: George Lai takes over as CEO

The9 has appointed George Lai as its new chief executive officer with immediate effect. Founder Jun Zhu remains with the company as executive chairman and intends to focus more on private interests. Wei Ji is serving as interim CFO while a permanent successor is sought.
