Xcel Energy has appointed Peter Carter, president of Delta Air Lines, to its board of directors. Carter will serve on the audit committee and the corporate governance, compensation and nominating committee, bringing experience from senior roles at Delta as well as 23 years in partnership at the law firm Dorsey & Whitney. Xcel Energy struck an electric service agreement with Google for a 750 MW data center in Minnesota under which Google funds all new generation, transmission and related infrastructure, shifting costs away from ratepayers. The arrangement includes a proposed Clean Energy Accelerator Charge covering 1,900 MW of clean resources and a large long-duration storage project with Form Energy. Xcel raised its five-year capital plan to $60 billion, concentrated in transmission and renewables, and management expects the Google model could be replicated across its eight-state footprint, potentially lowering residential transmission costs by 1–2% over 15 years. At the annual meeting, shareholders elected all ten candidates nominated by Xcel Energy’s board and approved executive compensation in a non-binding advisory vote. Deloitte & Touche was confirmed as the independent auditor for 2026. Xcel reported Q1 results slightly below expectations (EPS $0.91 vs. $0.93; revenue $4.02 billion vs. $4.17 billion), announced a quarterly dividend of 59.25 cents, and reached an agreement in Minnesota on gas rates that will raise revenues by $38 million. » More on de.investing.com
