Anavex starts proxy fight and solicits votes for six board candidates

Anavex has filed final proxy materials for the September 24 annual meeting and is urging shareholders to support its six nominees for the board of directors after entering a proxy fight with PVG Asset Management. Shareholders of record as of July 31, 2026, are eligible to vote; if elected, half of the board would have been replaced since the start of the year. The biopharma company named Dr. Terrie Kellmeyer as interim CEO, filed an IND application for an Alzheimer’s treatment, and is conducting two clinical pharmacology studies. Anavex sees disrupted autophagy as connection between autism and Alzheimer’s

Anavex publishes findings that shared disturbances of autophagy constitute a molecular link between autism spectrum disorders and Alzheimer’s disease. The oral drug candidate blarcamesin activates SIGMAR1 and is intended to restore autophagic processes; earlier studies and completed clinical trials suggested improvement in autophagic flux and a slowing of cognitive decline in early Alzheimer’s.
