Ardea Resources presented the Kalgoorlie nickel project as a long-term critical minerals initiative and reports support commitments of around AUD 1 billion from Export Finance Australia and the U.S. Export-Import Bank. The project will be operated through KNPL in a joint venture where Ardea holds 65% and Japanese partners currently hold 35% (with an option to increase to 50%) and have committed to 75% of offtake volumes. The project targets annual production of around 30,000 tonnes of nickel and 2,000 tonnes of cobalt over a life of more than 40 years. Financing commitments totalling AUD 1 billion, including contributions from Export Finance Australia and the U.S. Export-Import Bank as well as Japanese partner stakes with Sumitomo Metal Mining and Mitsubishi, underpin the plan.
