Chery’s premium NEV brand LEPAS plans to expand into the Middle East in November and will, for the first time, present its entire model lineup in the Gulf region. The LEPAS L8 PHEV will be rolled out gradually in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar; the brand will make use of Chery’s existing sales network. Lepas, an export brand of Chery, intends to start in Austria in the first quarter of 2027 and will initially offer the L8, L6 and L4 models there; prices are not yet known and local partners are still being sought. The priority is collecting customer feedback rather than achieving high sales volumes. Chery reported second-quarter revenue of 77.4 billion yuan (+5% YoY, +18% QoQ), missing analyst expectations by 11%. Net profit fell 13% to 4.4 billion yuan but beat consensus by 5%, while core earnings rose 64% QoQ to 5.5 billion yuan, exceeding estimates by 22%. Gross margin improved to 16.1%, but operating margin fell to 4.7% due to higher SG&A and R&D expenses. Free cash flow for H1 jumped to 35 billion yuan, and net cash stands at 72 billion yuan (about 50% of market cap).
