Conifex shuts Mackenzie sawmill from May 19 for about seven weeks

Conifex will temporarily idled the sawmill in Mackenzie, British Columbia, from May 19, 2026, for roughly seven weeks and plans to resume production in July 2026. The pause is due to low logs and fibrewood inventories combined with seasonal conditions affecting timber harvesting; felling operations are expected to restart in early June, weather permitting. The shutdown reduces supply by about 25 million board feet.
