Forvia Hella is maintaining its full-year forecast after a first half that was predictably weaker. Currency-adjusted revenue rose to just over €4 billion, but operating profit fell by almost 10% to €214 million and the operating margin slipped to 5.4%. Forvia Hella reports an operating result of €96m for Q1 (−12%) and a revenue decline of nearly 3% to €1.9bn, weighed down by a strong euro and weakness in the lighting business. The electronics segment grew thanks to high demand for radar sensors and became the largest group division for the first time. Cost reductions, including in R&D, offset part of the revenue decline; group profit rose slightly due to significantly lower restructuring costs. Forvia is selling its Interiors division — which comprises 59 production sites, eight R&D centres and around 31,000 employees — to private equity investor Apollo Funds for 1.82 billion euros to reduce net debt by at least one billion euros. Interiors recently generated about 4.8 billion euros in revenue and accounted for almost one-fifth of group sales; Forvia says it will now focus on higher-margin, technology-driven areas. The group is in crisis with around 6 billion euros in net liabilities and expects to cut debt by 2028; extensive job cuts have already been announced.
