Proxima Fusion and Fujikura signed a memorandum of understanding in Tokyo to prepare large-scale industrial production of high-temperature superconductor (HTS) tape in Germany. The planned site is Lower Saxony; the partnership is intended to bring production know-how and investment to Germany and strengthen Europe’s supply chain for fusion energy. Proxima Fusion has signed letters of intent with Fujikura and Kyoto Fusioneering to build production of high-temperature superconductor (HTS) tape in Lower Saxony and to cooperate on fusion components. Proxima plans to invest about €140 million in a factory by the end of 2029; Lower Saxony has pledged up to €21 million, conditional on an experienced partner such as Fujikura.
