Fintech Plaid is reportedly considering an initial public offering after reaching an $8 billion valuation earlier this year. The San Francisco company has held preliminary talks with banks but has not yet made a decision. OpenAI is previewing a feature that allows ChatGPT to securely connect to users' bank and investment accounts through Plaid, giving the chatbot access to balances, transactions, subscriptions, portfolios and liabilities. Initially this will be available to US subscribers of the $200/month Pro tier, with plans to expand after early testing. Users can disconnect accounts, view and delete stored "financial memories," and opt out of allowing their financial data to be used to train models, while OpenAI says ChatGPT cannot modify accounts or see full account numbers.
