The US Department of Commerce imposed a sales ban on future Polestar models over national security concerns related to Chinese software in internet-connected vehicles. Polestar, controlled by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, will not appeal the decision and plans to focus investments on markets such as Europe instead. Projects with the 32 US dealers are being halted; state-level rules could give rise to claims for compensation.
