Safestay PLC has signed its first franchise agreement with Sycomore Entwicklungen GmbH and will operate two hostels in Kitzbühel under the Safestay brand from 1 September 2025. The five-year agreement (with an option to extend for another five years) includes guaranteed fixed payments, performance-related fees and integration into Safestay’s distribution and IT platform. A guest who booked via Booking.com discovered bedbugs in their Safestay Holland Park room, was moved to another infested building and incurred £265 in costs before Kensington and Chelsea council enforced pest control. Safestay says it carries out daily inspections and treated affected rooms; Booking.com issued a refund and suspended the hostel but initially did not reply to the guest's complaint.
